Ok Trashlings, today is a special day! It’s the day of the finale! As a special lead up to the episode, my closest and most trusted friend ValleGirl and I drunk-skyped our way through last week’s recap episode. You can read through our conversation below – It will feel like we are all hanging out together! Or maybe it won’t. But here are our mostly unedited thoughts as we watched the penultimate episode.
ValleGirl: Woot woot, here we go. Got my beer at the ready to make it easier to listen to Ginger’s voice.
Sermonette: Ok so let’s talk looks on last week’s runway. Kennedy shat the bed. I think Violet is great visually but I think this was not the right final look and her wig in the video was totes wrong. It’s definitely not a showstopper.
ValleGirl: Violet should have pulled it out earlier. It’s a fantastic look, but it really is underwhelming.
ValleGirl: For a relatively young queen, Kennedy’s so dated. She’s not really that old, only mid-30s. Raja was 36 when she competed and was one of the most fashionable queens.
Sermonette: Yeah and ginger is like 29. When they say they are old and stuck in their ways it feels like a cop out.
ValleGirl: Ginger is the same age as Fame. Let’s contemplate that for a moment.
ValleGirl: It’s the same thing with all the pageant queens. They are so set in their ways because it’s so competitive that they don’t look beyond what they know/
Sermonette: So Yara and Alexis would be considered “Pageant” – right? I loved them
ValleGirl: Alexis, yes. Yara, no.
Sermonette: and I loved Latrice – I’d consider her pageant as well.
ValleGirl: Alexis was the best of the pageant queens, but she still was so judgmental of Raja. Latrice is in a class of her own.
Sermonette: True. Latrice has a very Florida pageant aesthetic, but she’s also an amazing person with charisma to spare.
ValleGirl: Aesthetic, definitely. I was going to say that the Florida queens tend to be the pageant queens.
Sermonette: Yeah, and Texas, to an extent.
ValleGirl: Texas is just all pageant, all the time. Drag, child, women, dog.
Sermonette: I did some time in Dallas. I got out fast. It’s very intense.
ValleGirl: Yikes. Dallas scares me. I’ve been to San Antonio and it’s okay, but Dallas. No.
Sermonette: Watch Mr. T and the Women – It’s Dallas in a nutshell.
Sermonette: I went to school with Shangela, did I tell you that? She’s the sweetest.
ValleGirl: That’s good to know. I liked her season 2, wanted to punch her season 3, but in retrospect, she was a peach compared to what’s come after.
Sermonette: Kennedy’s Pride Dress is so 1999.
ValleGirl: But not Prince 1999.
