Welcome to the first night of the Battle Rounds! The anticipation of Cher and Blake together coaching our lucky contestants have kept me up at night. Will the young ‘uns know the greatness in which they bask? Will Blake make a lucky dueling duo sing “I Got You, Babe”? Will Cher make a facial expression? It’s almost been too much. Remember, Xtina has Ed Sheeran, Ceelo has Miguel and Adam has Ryan Tedder.
Judges: Xtina brought her A-Game wearing a black and silver piped, criss-cross dress. Her hair and makeup look understated, for her. Slow clap to her new gays. Ceelo’s hanging on to the Michael Jackson jacket, Adam had a haircut and Blake is tall.
First up – Grey and Nic Hawk from Team Adam. Grey and Nic walk in together holding hands to meet Ryan which is weird. This is the battle rounds – we expect blooooood. Adam’s beard is very full at this point in time and it makes me wonder how much food gets stuck in there after he’s done with a meal. Grey is nervous to go against Nic and can’t blame the girl because Nic’s flamboyant and endearing. They’ll be doing “Domino” by Jesse J – which happens to be a song Grey does with her wedding band. Nic may be in trouble. Ryan’s giving them both great pointers on refining the song for their particular sound. Adam claims that he doesn’t know who’ll come up on top but I’ll take a stab and say Grey’s going to kick his ass.
No question, Grey’s the better singer, but Nic held my attention. Blake’s comments start with the fact the Grey passed him up and Nic hit on his boyfriend, Adam. He picks Nic as the winner to show us all that he and Adam have an open relationship. Xtina loved Nic’s energy but goes with Grey for obvious reasons. Ceelo picks Nic because he loves a showman. Adam compliments Grey on her untapped effortlessness in her singing and says Nic’s energy and uniqueness came out but his voice wasn’t as good as Grey’s.
Blake uses one of his steals for Nic.
