Project Runway Recap:
Howdy Trashmi, I’m filling in for Alioop this week so bear with me as we get to experience my favorite time of the project runway season, home visits! I was happy last week when they pulled the semi-annual trick of allowing the top five to prepare finale collections because the remaining contestants are genuinely so diverse and passionate in style that I honestly wasn’t rooting for anyone to go home. So let’s start the show shall we?
Previously, butterflies!!(???) fixing auffed outfits! Was it me or was that episode all over the place? I enjoyed it.
Bradon and Dom are %100 safe and will be showing at fashion week. Helen, Justin and Alexandria remain. They also get to create collections for fashion weeks, everyone gets $9,000, 6 weeks and they are asked to make 10 looks. They also need to design one item that is unconventional.
Alexandria is immediately crying. Alright a minute ago when I said I wasn’t rooting against anyone? I lied. I still don’t really ‘get’ Alexandria and Helens work on a consistent basis so whatever, one of them can go.
Time to watch Tim journey across the country and wear a blazer in all kinds of inappropriate situations, joy!
Stop #1 (four weeks later)– Philadelphia to meet up with Dom. We meet Dom’s super awesome mother Tammy and brother Samuel, as well as Ivan, her boyfriend who does not speak a single word and appears to be at least half giant. Everyone is super smiley, Tim is surprised to hear that Dom actually works at the restaurant they’re eating at. Tammy used to get dressed up to go out and that inspired Dom to be a designer. Tim reveals Dom is guaranteed to be in the finale which is cute since everyone is giggly and giddy.
Dom’s boyfriend seriously may be a giant. Or she’s half pixie.
We go to Dom’s workspace which is huge and amazing, apparently she’s renting it from a friend. Her theme is “retro futurism” (a la Blade Runner) which for us non-fashion types is “angular lines meeting curved lines” which.. sure, sounds legit.
She has a few different fabric swatches and proofs to look at. Tim wants Dom to do all of her work on knit fabrics. It appears to cause a light to go on over Dom’s head, so that’s good, too bad she only has 2 weeks left. And since she’s customizing her fabric she still needs to have it printed. Whatever she’s Dom we all know it’ll be fine.
