This week on the Amazing Race, the teams remained in Chile. It’s a huge country, so it kind of makes sense that it would take up two episodes, but is anyone else finding this season to be a little dull? The closest thing to adventure the teams experience this leg is a 24 hour bus ride. It feels like it’s missing something – some sense or urgency or peril or something.I don’t know… maybe it’s just me.
Anyway, we pick up where we left off last week with the first team getting their first clue. It’s 2:52 AM and team evil Marie are ripping open their envelope. The clue tells them they have to go to the Museo Corbeta Esmeralda to get their next clue. Marie groans and grunts about how people thought they would be out first because she is such a beeatch, but now they have the express passes and they intend to dangle the extra one in front of the other teams. Such a lovely young girl.
Hot Docs give each other a good luck kiss before ripping open their envelope. So sweet.
Bingo Boys take off next and race through the wee hours of the morning towards the tall ship that has been anchored as a museum. MLBilfs and NFLers all slowly trot towards the museum, having already realized the place will be closed. Ice twins head out and tell us, “Leo and Jamal call us their race wives, because we have more of a commitment than race girlfriends.”
Afghanimals take off and also tell us that they have named the Ice Twins their race wives. Jamal raises his eyebrows in a smarmy look and says, “Ashley, you’re mine!” Leo agrees that Ally is his.
Hot Docs arrive at the museum and tell evil Marie that it is Nicole’s birthday and an express pass would be a great gift. Evil Marie doesn’t even bother to wish her a happy birthday. She just says, “we’ll see.”
Finally heading off the mat are Pinky and the Brain, the Okies, and Hot Beards taking up the rear. As everyone arrives at the closed museum, Marie drolls out instructions of how teams must line their bags up in the order in which they arrived. Jamal comes on complaining that someone made Pinky and No Brain the captains of the line. Damn it! I totally missed out on that one when I was coming up with team names. Oh well.
As the museum opens, everyone swarms the ship looking for the clue. Hot Beards finds the clue first, but everyone is close behind. They have to find out what the famous saying the captain of the ship said and repeat it to the Officer of the Day in Spanish. Teams crawl everywhere trying to find the saying, but stunningly enough, it is the Ice Twins and Hot Beards who think to exit the ship and ask locals on the docks for the answer. Hot Beard dashes to the officer first and gets the clue with Adam’s perfect Spanish version of “Charge the ship, men!” Ice Twins are not far behind.
